Daniel R. Cummings
M.d.
Dr. Cummings is originally from El Cajon. He attended Standford University for his undergraduate studies, then returned to the San Diego area for medical school and an internal medicine residency at UC San Diego. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship at UC Irvine. In 1984, he practiced at David Grant USAF Medical Center for four years before opening a private practice in Placerville, California in 1988. After 35 years of practicing in California, Dr. Cummings joined Gastroenterology Consultants in 2019.
Dr. Cummings was drawn to the field of gastroenterology because of his interest in minimally invasive procedures like colonoscopies. The process of treating diseases without causing significant pain to the patient seemed the ideal route for him, and since then Dr. Cummings has enjoyed gastroenterology due to the variety of diseases he treats within this field.
Outside of work, Dr. Cummings enjoys being in nature, either by hiking, fly fishing, camping, or backpacking. He is involved with the Boy Scouts Order of the Arrow, and he and wife, Annamarie, have two children in college. He is also a professional member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
